chococat

Cachacos … no, not the cute little japanese cartoon character that hangs out with hello kitty (that’s choco-cat) … people from Bogota. Cachaco/a is the slang way to say someone is from or a resident of Bogota, Colombia. I want to hear from you! Or if you have ever been to Bogota, know about Penalosa’s work, please weigh in … I have been reading articles:

“Bogota’s urban happiness movement” (Globe & Mail)

“Urbanization’s green outgrowth” (Washington Post)

“Bogota designs transportation for people, not cars” (World Resources Institute)

and listening to speeches

Enrique Penalosa discusses the importance of public spaces (from Planetzine)
And I would like to know what you think. Have you been to Bogota? If so, tell me about it. If you have not but are familiar with this case, what is your opinion?

Welcome to my NEW blog. Keep track of me for more on cities, urban planning, slums, inequality and architecture in the developing world, specifically Latin America.

Habra tambien informacion en espanol (cuando yo la pueda encontrar) sobre temas como ciudades, la planificacion urbana, los ranchos (como dicen en Venezuela), la desigualdad, y el arquitectura en el tercer mundo, especificamente America Latina.
